Gyanki-Hen Volume 4 (last updated June 28)

Alright, let's get this shit started! Here's the first two chapters for now.
Darts Emperor Zero.
I hope to god Fukumoto sticks to male villains after that. Junko's way too creepy.
Just 3 more chapters left.

  1. Thanks for nothing!

    zero = 0 ;D

    I wonder how important the new dart is... leaving things up to chance is... but then again it is a gamble (even if the gamble is usually about how the opponent will react).

  6. You also forgot to translate the board with the hand combinations in page 33. Well, maybe it was intentional because you had already translated it in the page before that, just letting you know in case.

  11. Thank you for the release(s)!

    Some time ago, I read a comment by someone who felt that the Tobaku Haouden Rei series was "childish and unrealistic". I have to admit, I rather agree, but this is one of those instances where I couldn't care less how 'juvenile' a series is. This is simply too interesting and amusing :)

    1. Yeah, it's definitely targeted towards a younger demographic unlike Kurosawa, but it's great fun nonetheless. Fukumoto's previous shonen series, Buraiden-Gai, was criticized for being too slowly paced, which is why for his next attempt at shonen (Gambling Emperor Zero), he said he tries to make everything 2 times faster than he normally would. Considering pacing has always been Fukumoto's biggest flaw, I think this is one of the reason's why Zero's so much fun to read.

    2. The slow pacing is good though, it gives you time to be smart and figure out what's happening before the reveal. I get the feeling with this series of Zero I won't figure anything out before the reveal unless it's been dumbed down.

    3. I like how Fukumoto paces Zero. It's a welcome change to the slow-paced drama of, say e.g. Kaiji. That also wouldn't really fit to Zero because we all know Zero always has a plan and will win in the end.
      With Kaiji, that's not a given at all.

    4. I agree with Anonymous; the breakneck pace is a welcome change from the usual; even though I love Kaiji as well.

      But I wonder whether Fukumoto Nobuyuki will ever again write something as wonderful as Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa...Might sound weird to some people but it's one of my all-time favourite manga. Anything that can bring me to the verge of tears is a masterpiece in my eyes, since making me cry is nigh impossible.

    ////////////////////SPOILER ALERT//////////////////

    what i figured from zeros plan:

    this time it seems he made a double trap, big mistake taking the aces and the kings togethers =3, they will be deal with the stragth and royal stragiht haha after 2 loses junko will most likely dont risk again against one of those possibles straigths

    ///////////////////SPOILER END/////////////////

    thanks again to hox for these beutifull masterpice¡

  15. Amazing chapter *_*

    ///////////////////////SPOILER ALERT/////////////

    My thoutgs from the next turn:

    Junko deck with no card showing is most likely a 9 four of a kind, and the card with the 8 of aces is most likely her striatgh flush, and since her fullhouse is most likely the one with aces, those will be the next 3 victims of zeros plan¡

    ///////////////////SPOILER END//////////////////////////

    Great job for hox and thanks to him¡
