Goodnight Takashi v09 + Minor Status Update

Enough with the walls of text already, Asano. You're driving me crazy.
Alright, managed to get the entire volume done by the end of the weekend. Mission accomplished. The batch volume file I've linked below fixed a couple minor errors I've made in earlier releases but let me know if you spot any other issues. Now that the volume's done, I guess it's back to 6-8 months of waiting while we all complain about how slow Punpun releases are! This time, it's going to be particularly tough after the way this volume ended.

In other news, my new mediafire is <www.mediafire.com/hoxbox> I'm still in the midst of uploading all the stuff I've translated over the years, however. If you're wondering what the hell happened to Franken Fran, don't worry, I haven't forgotten about it. I've just been caught up doing other things as of late. But I'll try to get the 2 chapters of Fran that I'm behind on out as soon as possible, along with Zero and another Phase 20 oneshot that Kigitsu recently released. Otherwise, don't expect too much from me this December. If all goes well, I'll come out of my "break" from scanlation this January and resume work on Joe and Sangokushi. That's it for now, folks!

  2. Not to expect much from December?

No problem, you've already given us enough for 2011.

  8. I guess that image explains why the last chapter took longer. Great work and many thanks! Ill be able to study without checking every five minutes for chapter 99.

  9. Gotta love 'em cliffhangers, especially if they happen during that one moment you've been waiting for.

Congratulations for completing another volume, Hox! Thanks for your speedy hardwork. :D

  13. Punpun great as always, when I saw the new volume out it felt like Christmas came early. Thanks Hox, can't wait for the next.

  14. Thanks, Hox.

Has Asano Inio said anything lately about his actual views on manga (perhaps in an interview)? Reading the scene with Nanjou and the editor, I initially thought he was using Nanjou as a mouthpiece, but on a second read, it seems more convincing to read it as a sketch of a discarded view. I'd be interested to know if his views now differ at all from the time he was working on Nijigahara Holograph.

  15. There's the one story in Before Dawn and the End of the World (which is still his best work IMO) that seems pretty autobiographical and gets a bit into why he wants to make manga.

Actually, in the interview "he" gives in that story, he says the quote that appears next to his picture in this volume of Punpun. Neat!

  20. Ugh. Time to relish the feeling of having just finished the newest Punpun volume. And just about time to ignore the one-year wait until the next one.
    It's.. not working. :C

  29. Hi, hox.

Thank you so very much for taking your time to translate Oyasumi Punpun and make it available for people to read in English.

When I first read it, I was so amazed by how good the story was, that I picked up all 6 volumes (at the time) and am now going to get the rest.

You've introduced me to Asano Inio, and he is now up there as one of my favorite mangaka of all time.

    Thank you.

  30. In case you might not see the e-mail: Oyasumi Punpun volume 10 has been put on sale (supposedly) yesterday/2 days ago (depending on time zone -> 27th April).

The rest were details: if no RAW providers are handling the entire volume anytime soon yet you have time and a scanner, a person I know and I would love to pay for the volume and shipping for you. Scanning an entire volume is a lot of work though, so there's no need to feel forced into doing this.
Keep it up, and May seems like it'll be wonderful this year with a new volume. Or not 'wonderful' but even more depressing than before; but no matter, What a Wonderful World.
